The University of Washington’s Civil Engineering department, renown for its research in transportation engineering, has very strong ties with Pavia Systems. Pavia Systems was founded by University of Washington professors and staff and has licensed many of the University of Washington transportation engineering technologies such as the Virtual Superpave Lab, CD-based lab tests, and the Pavement Guide. These technologies have been incorporated into existing courses, with new courses and reference materials being created that reflect the latest research at the University of Washington and best practices in the field.
In addition, all founding members from the University of Washington are actively involved in all aspects of daily activity at Pavia Systems. This provides each customer, whether taking an individual course online or creating a suite of custom courses, the best of both the academic and business world.
Pavia Systems and the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) have created a suite of courses specifically designed for the asphalt pavement industry. Each course combines years of practical industry experience from NAPA with the latest civil engineering research from the University of Washington. Along with co-developing courses, Pavia Systems has developed courses that have been extensively reviewed by NAPA’s educational committee for technical accuracy and content, garnering NAPA’s endorsement.
These “NAPA Approved” courses, along with the courses co-developed by NAPA and Pavia Systems are available online on a pay per use basis through the eLearning Center or can be purchased through NAPA’s online store at store.hotmix.org.
